Christine Louton,ATCThe Department of the Interior's (DOI) Accessible Technology Program was established in June, 2000 to support employees with disabilities by determining the appropriate assistive technology and ergonomic solutions for the individual. These accommodations enable employees with disabilities to equal access to information technology that is essential in today's workplace.

The Accessible Technology Center has 5 workstations available for hands-on demonstrations and evaluations of assistive technologies. Each of the workstations is geared to the demonstration of products that provide accommodations for a particular category of disability. There is a station for sight, hearing, cognitive, mobility/dexterity impairments as well as a Section 508 web testing station. There are a variety of ergonomic keyboards, seating, monitors, "point and click" devices such as alternative mice and trackballs at each workstation.
