Floriculture and Nursery Research Initiative

The ARS Floriculture and Nursery Research Initiative funds research – conducted by ARS and university scientists – of importance to the floral and horticultural industry that is strongly focused on addressing and solving the industry’s issues and needs.  ARS works closely with representatives of the American Nursery and Landscape Association and the Society of American Florists in setting the research priorities and goals of this Initiative.  A list of current research projects funded by the Floriculture and Nursery Research Initiative is here, along with the most recent annual reports.

ARS and university researchers supported by the Initiative met in Raleigh, North Carolina, in March 2003, and again in Portland, Oregon, in June 2006, to report on the progress of their research, and to meet and network with other researchers and stakeholders in the ornamental industry.  The research presentations made at each of these workshops are available here.
