GET FIT WITH USHome : GET FIT WITH US
In 2003, President Bush launched the Healthier US Initiative to help Americans live longer, better, and healthier lives. The Outdoor Industry Association has partnered with federal agencies to promote outdoor activity and volunteerism on public lands through the GET FIT WITH US program. GET FIT WITH US recognizes that Americans' public lands and waters area a perfect fit for raising healthy families. Hiking, biking, camping, paddling, snowshoeing, and skiing America's public lands and waters can permanently change lives for the better, resulting in healthy, more active lifestyles for generations to come. Our Be Active Bitterroot program encourages Bitterroot Valley residents to participate in outdoor recreation and volunteer activities that will reconnect them to their natural and physical heritage, ensuring that a love of the American outdoors and an active lifestyle is passed on from one generation to the next. Citizens who use these public lands will grow attached to them, frequent them more often, and become strong supporters of public lands, water, and wilderness areas. Our program has established partnerships with numerous federal, state, county, and city agencies, and non-profit community organizations. Our partners have created a variety of opportunities, e.g., hiking, biking, and bird watching, for citizens to experience each month in 2008 starting with the kick-off in May. Click on the links below for more detailed information on the program and to print out your Passport.
