Adobe Acrobat Reader Help Get Acrobat Reader

The Administrative Unit level maps and High-Resolution State maps are available for viewing in Adobe pdf format. Adobe pdf files are viewable within Netscape and Internet Explorer windows. An additional toolbar is provided within the window, and an example can be seen in the image on the right.

This toolbar contains buttons for navigating and controlling the viewing of the pdf file. In the case of our maps, this means you can zoom in and out and pan around the image. Other tools are available on the toolbar, but are primarily used for text documents (searching, navigating between pages, bookmarks, etc.). Below you will find the buttons highlighted that are useful for navigating around on the maps. Toobars are shown for Version 3 and 4 of Acrobat Reader. If you do not have the Reader, or would like the newest version, you can download it here. - version 4.0 is 5.6 MB (approximate download time of 30 minutes with 28.8 connection)

It is important to note that whenever the map is navigated within, the image (map) will be redrawn, and may require some time to re-render the image completely.

Using the Acrobat Reader navigation buttons

Pan Tool To use the pan tool, simply click on the button in the toolbar, then place your mouse pointer (now a hand) over the image (map). While holding down on the left mouse button, drag the image (map) around on the screen.
Zoom tools To use the zoom tool, simply select the plus (zoom in) or minus (zoom out) button in the toolbar, and then place your mouse pointer over the image. When you click the left mouse button, the image will zoom into (or out of depending on button selected) the map where the mouse pointer is located. This can be done multiple times to zoom way in or way out of the image (map). With Acrobat Reader 4.0, only the zoom button is located on the toolbar. However, if you click on the button and hold it down, a submenu will appear from which you can select either the zoom in or zoom out button.
View tools To use the zoom to view tool, select one of the three preselected view buttons. This will zoom the image to one of the predefined zoom levels (full view, fill window view, etc.).
