BELTSVILLE, MD, July 19, 2006— The Food Safety Information Center (FSIC) at USDA's National Agricultural Library (NAL) has launched a Web site (http://foodsafety.nal.usda.gov) focused on key topics of interest. Consumers, food handlers and educators will find the site most useful as it points to online resources in areas such as HACCP, Pathogens and Contaminants, Food Preparation and Handling.
The Food Safety Information Center is one of eight Information Centers at the National Agricultural Library. The center was established at the NAL in 2003 to efficiently use library resources, develop stronger collaborations among the library’s food safety programs, and ultimately deliver the best possible services to the food safety community. FSIC works closely with the University of Maryland College of Nutrition and Food Science. It also partners with other agencies and organizations to develop, maintain and deliver a variety of information products.
The new FSIC Web site implements USDA Web standards and meets U.S. Office of Management and Budget guidelines for focusing on customer needs.
