Shorebird Research at the Alaska Science Center

What does this Web Site offer?

Whether scientist, resource manager, or student (of all ages), there is something here for you.  If you would like a primer on shorebirds and their ecology, please visit the individual species pages.  If some aspect of their biology really piques your interest we also provide here recommendations for additional reading.  If you want to learn what our research group is currently doing with shorebirds, see our ‘Projects’ page where we discuss the studies.  If you hit the ‘What we learned’ icons on this page you will see a summary of the results of each project and a list of scientific publications and reports relating to each project.  If your interest in shorebirds extends beyond Alaska, then you can visit our ‘Links’ page where you will find web sites for most of the shorebird groups throughout the world, links to organization concerned with shorebird conservation, and information about color-marking schemes.  On the ‘Staff and Collaborators’ page, our research team introduces themselves and each tells you a bit about their interest in shorebirds.  And finally, if you want to see why shorebirds are so captivating, see our ‘Photo Gallery’ page for lots of great images of shorebirds, their habitats, and shorebird biologists at work.
