Introduction
The Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) program began in 1988 as a competitive grants program for researchers who work closely with farmers and ranchers. Today, SARE teams with producers, researchers and agricultural educators across the nation to promote farming and ranching systems that are profitable, environmentally sound and good for communities. The 2004 SARE Highlights illustrates SARE's on-the-ground impact with summaries of 12 innovative projects. moremore
