IT Professional Development and Training

GSA provides training and development opportunities that will enhance federal government employees’ understanding and application of effective and efficient business practices and processes for digital technologies. GSA offers an environment where the key players in government, industry and academia come together and dialogue on shared issues, possible solutions, and effective practices.

GSA assists customers in broadening their understanding of cross-government, interagency, and inter-discipline needs and activities by providing opportunities for message development and dissemination. The following programs bring together the best in industry, federal government and academia to enhance government/industry/academia discourse:

  • CIO University promotes academic education and collaboration, via graduate-level programs, through a virtual consortium of universities to address Chief Information Officer core competency requirements for organizations and individuals (as required by legislation).

  • Outreach is centered on three basic functions: Awareness, Message Delivery and Connecting Communities. Awareness: Informing communities about the existence of the Federal Executive Leadership Councils (Chief Information Officers, Chief Financial Officers, Federal Acquisition, Chief Human Capital Officer Councils), what they do as independent organizations and working together to improve the business of government and the service to the public. Message Delivery: Getting the Federal Executive Leadership Councils message out to organizations, associations, and other communities of interests through the media, conferences, and other forums. Connecting Communities: Assist the Federal Executive Leadership Councils in building relationships and encourage communications between the Councils and other communities (including state and local governments, industry, academia, and the media), and to expand the Council's impact and identity.
