In a ceremony tomorrow, Thursday, January 8, Associate Deputy Secretary of the Interior and Chief Financial Officer Jim Cason and Assistant Secretary for Land and Minerals Management C. Stephen Allred will recognize several Department of Interior organizations and employees for contributing to the success of the recent fourth deployment of the Department of the Interior’s Financial and Business Management System (FBMS).
In the largest expansion of the FBMS so far, on Dec. 2, 2008 the Department of the Interior introduced FBMS to more than 7,000 additional users by deploying the system to the Bureau of Land Management and delivering more of its functions to the Minerals Management Service and the Office of Surface Mining. The ceremony recognizing those who contributed to this deployment will be held in the South Interior Building tomorrow.
When deployed across the entire Department by 2014, the FBMS suite of software applications will replace and integrate 160 of Interior’s 162 legacy business systems and subsystems.
