NACD's mission is to serve conservation districts by providing national leadership and a unified voice for natural resource conservation.

Awards

NACD’s annual Awards Program recognizes individuals and organizations for outstanding work and leadership in soil and water conservation. Award winners will be recognized at a ceremony at NACD's 2009 Annual Meeting in New Orleans, Lousiana. Please contact Beth Mason with any questions at (317) 782-0600.


NACD Friend of Conservation Award - Nominations closed
The Friend of Conservation Award recognizes an individual, business, organization, agency, etc. outside the association for outstanding contributions to the conservation of our nation's natural resources. Click here for more information.

NACD Distinguished Service Award - Nominations closed
The NACD Distinguished Service Award recognizes an individual within the association who has made significant contributions to the conservation and proper management of our nation’s natural resources. Click here for more information.

NACD President’s Award
Chosen by the NACD President, this award recognizes an individual or organization that has been especially helpful or active with regard to conservation during the President's term.

District Excellence Awards - Nominations closed
The District Excellence Awards recognize conservation districts that address the diverse needs of their community’s customer base and resource needs.  The winning conservation districts will prove to be exceptionally successful at specifically addressing one of the following program or policy areas: Communications; Membership Services; Natural Resources; Policy and Grassroots Initiatives; and Stewardship and Education. Collaborative Conservation Award - Nominations closed
The Collaborative Conservation Award recognizes conservation districts that exemplify innovative, collaborative conservation efforts by drawing upon various partnerships (traditional and non-traditional), utilizing diverse funding sources and/or conducting a wide range of projects to address their community’s conservation resource needs. Partner Awards

AEM/NACD Award Partnership
As part of their long-standing partnership, NACD and the Association of Equipment  Manufacturers (AEM) have launched a new award program recognizing conservation districts’ use of and need for equipment. Conservation districts are encouraged to submit proposals for the program's two awards categories:  Excellence in Conservation Equipment and Technology Use and Defining Conservation Needs for the Future. One winner will be selected from each category and each will receive a $2,000 cash award The deadline to submit nominations is November 21, 2008.

NWTF Outstanding Conservation District Partner Award
National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) seeks to recognize a conservation district or individual that has successfully partnered with a local NWTF chapter or staff to raise public awareness of conservation and wildlife management issues, improve wildlife habitat and increase hunting opportunities.

NACD/NRCS Olin Sims Conservation Leadership Award
In tribute to former NACD President Olin Sims, the Olin Sims Conservation Leadership Award promotes and recognizes outstanding conservation leadership at the State and local level. Jointly established by NACD and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), the award will be given to one up-and-coming leader who demonstrates excellence in promoting and leading voluntary conservation on private lands.
