What is RSS? |

Each year, hundreds of U.S. farm businesses fail; some of these failures are caused by poor financial management. Farm management involves successfully integrating the factors of production--land, labor, and financial resources--to realize an economically viable, ecologically sound, and socially responsible farm business. CSREES provides funding opportunities and staff expertise to addresses these concerns, allowing producers to meet their business and financial goals successfully.

In Focus

• The Risk Management Education Program provides information and guidance to farm producers to help manage financial risk.
• The Trade Adjustment Assistance Program (TAA) helps producers adjust to increasing import competition.

Partnerships

• CSREES collaborates with public and private sector risk management experts through four regional Risk Management Education Centers.

Selected Results and Impacts

• North Carolina's Farmland Values Project uses CSREES funds to explore the non-farm values of agricultural land.
• CSREES funds are helping Oregon researchers understand why not all farmers' markets succeed.
• CSREES-funded research explores the use of GPS-equipped cattle to increase farm productivity.
