The book provides another way to educate younger generations about the value of soil. The book includes topics such as: "Soil is NOT Dirt", soil formation and soil forming factors, "Yikes, It's Alive!", the interconnectedness of soil, and different soils from biomes around the world. The book features a glossary of soil terms and is brightly illustrated with photos of soil profiles and soil landscapes. It contains figures to illustrate concepts of soil formation and properties and discuss the uses of soil throughout history. There are personal accounts of individuals who work with and appreciate soil, along with photographs of people studying and interacting with soils in everyday life. The book highlights fundamental soil properties while weaving a common theme of the ubiquity of soils and their relevance to daily life. The book is now available for purchase from SSSA. Soils DVD
