Diversity Policy

In principle and in practice, NARC&DC values and seeks diverse and inclusive participation within RC&D councils nationwide. NARC&DC will promote involvement and expand access to leadership opportunity regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, nationality, disability, appearance, geographic location, or professional level.

The association will provide leadership and training resources to accomplish this objective while serving as a model to our member councils.

The association also encourages all member councils:

  • To have an aggressive outreach plan that encourages eligible females and minorities to become Council members and to receive council services.

  • To serve their whole community

  • To review their organizational structure and eliminate barriers to membership which hinder diversity.

  • To include a proposed outreach plan in their Area Plan.

  • To hold public council meetings with advance announcements and to use meeting facilities accessible to disabled members of the public.

  • To adopt non-discrimination policy and non-discrimination statements on all public council documents.

  • To develop appropriate educational opportunities for all council members to understand the diversity needs of the council and the communities it serves.

Statement of Non-Discrimination

All programs and services of the RC&D Councils are offered on a non-discriminatory basis, without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, marital or family status, disability or political beliefs.
