Welcome to the USDA Rural Development!  It is the mission of our agency to provide financial and technical assistance to rural individuals, families, communities, and businesses. 

From home loans to water and sewer projects to financing police cars and low-income housing, Rural Development invested more than $733 million into the economy of rural Michigan during Fiscal Year 2008.  We are committed to the future of Michigan's rural communities.

2008 Accomplishments

  • Helped 5,085 Michigan families purchase homes.

  • Provided rental assistance for 4,20 housing units.

  • Funded 10 energy efficiency projects.

  • Provided financial assistance for 95 community facility projects.

  • Financed sewer or water projects that helped 37,144 rural residents.
