The heart of the Fern Valley Native Plant Collection is a naturally wooded area planted with ferns, wildflowers, trees and shrubs. In addition to the 4-acre woodland, there are two acres of meadow and prairie plantings, and a richly planted roadside. All of the plants on display in Fern Valley are indigenous to the eastern United States. You will see species whose natural homes are in the mountains, along the seashore, and in the deepest forests. A one-half mile trail loops its way through the garden’s diverse plantings. The Fern Valley virtual tour illustrates the geographic areas the collection represents, and highlights its beauty throughout the seasons. From the woodland’s spring ephemerals, to the exuberant summer flowers of the meadow and prairie, to the sublime colors of fall, Fern Valley will captivate you with its display of native flora. |
