CORVALLIS, ORE.—Supporters of Oregon State University have contributed more than $400 million to The Campaign for OSU, the university’s first-ever comprehensive campaign.
The campaign, which has a goal of reaching $625 million by 2011, was publicly launched on Oct. 26, 2007. At that time, OSU President Ed Ray announced that $350 million had been committed. Less than five months later, donors have stepped forward with another $50 million.
“This is a tremendous vote of confidence in Oregon State University,” said Ray. “These gifts are great investments in our students, helping them achieve at OSU and in their careers, and in our faculty, supporting their efforts to expand knowledge and develop innovations that strengthen the economy and improve lives in Oregon and around the world.”
The campaign has goals for nearly every area of OSU, including specific goals for scholarships, faculty support, facilities and programs. To date, support has been broad with more than 42,500 households making gifts of all sizes, including 71 commitments of a $1 million or more and 477 commitments of $100,000 or more.
“OSU has an incredible group of supporters, who are providing strong leadership in this campaign,” said Mike Goodwin, OSU Foundation president and CEO. “These loyal alumni and friends care deeply about OSU and are eager to be a part of its success. They are seeing the impact of their gifts, in very real ways, on the lives of students and on the broader communities that OSU serves.”
