de Broekert Appointed to AARP Statewide Advisory Council

CORVALLIS, Ore. – AARP Oregon has appointed Betty-Coe de Broekert, co-chair of the Oregon State University Extension Citizen Advisory Network, to its volunteer executive council.

Long-time volunteer de Broekert joins a select group of AARP members with strong leadership experience and service to enhancing quality of life.

de Broekert, who lives in Salem, will serve a two-year term on the council, which includes four other AARP members from Oregon. Executive council members influence strategic direction for AARP in Oregon.

In her work as co-chair of the OSU Extension Citizen Advisory Network, de Broekert's leadership is making a difference across the state, according to Deborah Maddy, OSU interim associate provost and associate director of Extension.

"Her years of volunteer service on the network have been invaluable in helping OSU Extension engage the people of Oregon in developing and promoting healthy communities, families and individuals," Maddy said.

The network is comprised of volunteers from each Oregon County and the Warm Springs Confederated Tribes. "This group of geographically diverse, multi-dimensional volunteers advocate and coordinate support for OSU Extension at the local, state and national levels," Maddy said.

During her extensive career, de Broekert has worked with profit, nonprofit and governmental organizations. She was a founding partner of the women-owned consulting firm, ExecuSTAF, and serves as a member of the Oregon DHS Food Service Advisory Committee, the Department of Education Private Schools Advisory Committee and the Trustees of the YWCA of Salem.

About the OSU Extension Service: The OSU Extension Service is the statewide educational outreach arm of the university; it helps Oregonians find solutions to priority economic, social and environmental issues and delivers research-based educational programs in agriculture, forestry, family and community development, marine and fresh water issues and 4-H youth development.
