Grow Healthy Ecosystems, Societies, and Careers through the 2009 Member-Get-A-Member Campaign

Hugging a Tree

Why Trees?

Why does “Membership: A Renewable Resource” focus on trees? No matter what your area of professional expertise or focus, just about everyone can agree that trees are good for our planet and our scientific efforts. Trees moderate climate, improve air quality, and conserve water. The U.S. Department of Agriculture says, "One acre of forest absorbs six tons of carbon dioxide and puts out four tons of oxygen."That’s good for our sciences, and for us, as members and people living on this planet Earth.

One tree at a time, we can grow a healthier world. One member at a time, we can grow healthier Societies. One membership at a time, we can grow healthier careers for our colleagues. Participate in the Member-Get-A-Member campaign and make the difference.

Chances are, at some point in your career one of your colleagues referred you for membership in the Societies. Ever since, you’ve reaped the benefits that membership brings. Now, you can help a colleague or student strengthen their career by recommending them for membership.

Growing our membership helps the Societies serve you better, as well. A bigger Society means a stronger profession, a larger knowledge base, more expertise to draw on, more benefits, and increased visibility and influence in our advocacy efforts.

And this year, referring a colleague will help our planet. Every time you refer a colleague for membership in the Societies, we will make a $1 donation to the Global ReLeaf project of American Forests. Each dollar equals one tree planted in ecorestoration projects around the globe--projects which run the gamut from encouraging urban tree planting to reforestation to restoring natural habitats.

Participate in this year’s “Member Get A Member” campaign and you’ll be making a difference for your colleagues, your Societies, and our living Earth. To get started, use the form below to make your referrals.

About Global ReLeaf and American Forests

One of the oldest nonprofit citizen’s conservation organizations in the United States, since 1875 American Forests has focused on its mission of growing a healthier world. The organization has planted 25 million trees in more than 500 projects across the United States and internationally. Initiated in 1988, Global ReLeaf is American Forests' education and action program that helps individuals, organizations, agencies, and corporations improve the local and global environment by planting and caring for trees.

Make Your Referrals

It's easy! Please provide the following information, so we can tell your colleague who the referral is from:

My Information
Note: Your member number may be found on your CSA News label or membership card. It will also appear on the home page of our websites when you log in.

Now, tell us whom you would like to refer: We will only donate for those individuals who do not already hold membership in the Societies, but we make the donation whether or not they join. Not sure if someone is a member or not? Check the Member Directory.
