The State of Higher Education in Oregon
(OPB)

Oregon State University President Ed Ray joined the presidents of Portland State, University of Oregon and Eastern Oregon State to discuss issues in higher education during a taping of OPB’s radio program, “Think Out Loud,” held Wednesday night at Portland State University. When asked what kept President Ray up at night, he answered that it was issues of access. “We are at risk of creating a permanent underclass of people who have no stake in this society because they do not have access to the higher education they need to succeed in this society,” he said. The first half of the program airs this morning from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on OPB, and can be accessed via streaming audio on OPB’s web site at a href="http://www.opb.org/radio/listennow/player.php">http://www.opb.org/radio/listennow/player.php. The second half of the program will air Friday morning at the same time.
