OSU Recruiting Volunteers for LIFE Registry

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Center for Healthy Aging Research at Oregon State University is recruiting volunteers for its LIFE Registry. Any adult aged 50 or older who lives in Oregon is invited to sign up for the registry.

Once in the registry, participants agree to receive information about opportunities to participate in OSU studies designed to understand the health and well-being of middle-aged and older adults.

Participation in the registry does not obligate volunteers to be in any study. It simply provides OSU researchers affiliated with the center contact information for people who would like to receive information about studies. Once information about a study is received, registry volunteers decide whether or not they would like to participate.

The registry will include volunteers of all backgrounds. There are no health requirements. The LIFE Registry matches volunteers with appropriate study opportunities within the Center for Healthy Aging Research. Some 40 OSU faculty members may use registry volunteers for various studies, which would be directed to the center’s four core areas of research and might include: biological processes, exercise, balance, diet, families, psychological processes or new technologies.

Registry information is confidential and will be released only to Center for Healthy Aging Research faculty and their staff.

More information on the registry is available at www.hhs.oregonstate.edu/healthyaging. Interested volunteers may also call 541-737-4993.

About the OSU College of Health and Human Sciences: Emphasizing a holistic approach to optimal health and disease prevention, researchers focus on nutrition, physical activity, the psychology of aging improving the health of children and older adults, public policy, access to health care, and maximizing environmentally friendly materials and structures.
