Description: Louisiana is a prominent supplier of forest products to the nation. In 1971, it was the third leading state in output of softwood plywood, third in pulp production, and third in paper and paperboard. Louisiana ranked tenth in production of hardwood lumber, and thirteenth in all lumber. This article describes development of forest industries in the state since World War II.
