Grand Ball photo gallery
In November 2008, the University of Illinois Alumni Association, in conjunction
with the Sousa Archives on the Urbana campus, put on "A Grand Ball: Experiencing
Lincoln's Love of Music and Dance." The event -- complete with a cavalry
regiment band and Lincoln cakes, a seasoned caller and fresh mint juleps -- was
part of the University's celebrations of American Music Month and the bicentennial
of Abraham Lincoln's birth.
