Dear Friend of Conservation:

America is at a turning point.

Our nation’s leadership is committed to a new green energy economy and understands the importance of protecting our country’s valuable natural resources. We have an American public poised to reduce their personal impact on global warming pollution. We have a nation waking up to the fact that our children are not spending enough time outdoors. With these unprecedented opportunities before us, 2009 promises to be one of the most dynamic years ever in the conservation arena and in National Wildlife Federation’s history.

It is against this backdrop of excitement and anticipation that we extend an invitation to you to attend National Wildlife Federation’s 73rd Annual Meeting, April 30-May 2, at the Omni William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The theme of this year’s meeting is “People and Wildlife: Thriving in a Clean Energy Economy.” We will address groundbreaking ways to revitalize our economy and confront the immense challenges of global warming by investing in energy efficiency and clean energy technology while also protecting our health, vulnerable communities, and natural resources from the worst impacts of climate change.

We have workshops and sessions planned that will cover an array of relevant topics including: education advocacy (No Child Left Inside), integrating climate science into habitat management, energy development impacts on wildlife, building a stronger grassroots following, connecting to campuses, and enhancing policy influence. Add to this a list of informed and energized speakers, and it promises to be a stimulating three days.

We know the way forward.  Together we will forge a path to maximize every opportunity before us. It will take all our efforts together to ensure the change we have so longed for. The Annual Meeting will help us chart our course toward a future we can be proud to leave our children. Please join us so that your voice, your perspectives, and your leadership can guide our journey.
