Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates and Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England have no public or media events on their schedules.

Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics John J. Young Jr testifies at a hearing of the House Appropriations Committee on contracting at 1:30 p.m. EST in room H-140, The Capitol.

Commander, U.S.  Central Command Adm. William J. Fallon and Commander, U.S. Special Operations Command Admiral Eric T. Olson testify at a hearing of the Senate Armed Services Committee on U.S. Central Command and the U.S. Special Operations Command in review of the Defense Authorization Request for fiscal year 2009 and the future years defense program at 9:30 a.m. EST in room SD-106, Dirksen Senate Office Building.

Army Lt. Gen. Ray Odierno, commander of the Multinational Corps-Iraq, will brief live from Iraq at 10 a.m. EST, in the DoD Briefing Studio, Pentagon 2E579, to provide a summary of his time in Iraq.  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the North Parking Entrance only.  Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.  Please call (703) 697-5131 for escort into the building.

Deputy Under Secretary of the Air Force for Space Programs Gary E. Payton, Commander, Air Force Space Command General C. Robert Kehler, Commander, Joint Functional Component Command for Space U.S. Strategic Command Lieutenant General William L. Shelton, Director, Warfare Integration Office of the Chief of Naval Operations Rear Admiral Kenneth W. Deutsch testify at a hearing of the Senate Armed Services Committee on military space programs in review of the Defense Authorization Request for Fiscal Year 2009 and the future years defense program at 2:30 p.m. EST in room SR-232A, Russell Senate Office Building.

Army Lt. Gen. James Dubik, commander of Multi-National Security Transition Command-Iraq, will brief live from Iraq at 9 a.m. EST, March 4, in the DoD Briefing Studio, Pentagon 2E579, to provide an update of the development, training and equipping of Iraqi Security Forces.  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the North Parking Entrance only.  Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.  Please call (703) 697-5131 for escort into the building.

 

The U.S. Army will posthumously induct Army Master Sgt. Woodrow Wilson Keeble into the Pentagon's Hall of Heroes honoring Medal of Honor recipients in a ceremony today at 2 p.m. at the Pentagon Library and Conference Center.  The event honors the Soldier's valor during the Korean War.  During the final allied offensive of the Korean War, Keeble risked his life to save his fellow Soldiers.  For actions in combat, Keeble previously received the Distinguished Service Cross, the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, two Purple Hearts and the Combat Infantryman Badge.  He was assigned to the North Dakota National Guard's 164th Infantry Regiment as well as Company G, 2nd Battalion, 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division.  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass should be at the North Parking lot entrance at 1:15 p.m. with proof of media affiliation and two forms of photo identification.
