Brown University's Department of Portuguese and Brazilian Studies is very active in research on Portuguese subjects.

The Camões Center for the Study of the Portuguese-Speaking World, based at Columbia University, is well-regarded for its research activities.

The Catholic University of America's Oliveira Lima Library is the oldest Luso-Brazilian library in the United States and has extensive collections.
