Abstract: | (CIT): To appropriately meet the challenges of closing the knowledge gaps, improving the identification and treatment of gender and race factors in traumatic stress and traumatic brain injury, the Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury (DCoE), in collaboration with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA), is launching a two-day scientific conference. This conference will review the best existing science on trauma spectrum disorders that will serve the development of evidence-based concepts and strategies the DoD/DCoE, DVA and NIH can use to better assess and treat psychological health issues and traumatic brain injury, especially as it relates to service members and their families. During the conference, invited speakers and guests will explore the unique gender and ethnic factors specific to: a. psychological health needs of populations exposed to high stress, traumatic events, and deployment; b. traumatic brain injury (TBI); and c. treatment outcome. |
