The mission of the Department of Banking and Insurance is to regulate the banking, insurance and real estate industries in a professional and timely manner that protects and educates consumers and promotes the growth, financial stability and efficiency of those industries.
The Department's main offices are located in the Mary Roebling building
at 20 West State Street (corner of West State Street and North Warren Street),
in Trenton. The Department also maintains consumer centers in Camden and Newark.

Consumers can file for assistance with the Department if they need help with a banking, insurance or real estate issue/complaint.
The Department of Banking and Insurance is comprised of three main units - the Division of Banking, the Division of Insurance and the New Jersey Real Estate Commission. (Contact information for specific units is located below.) |

The Office of Public Affairs is responsible for communicating information about the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance to the public. The Public Affairs Office responds to media, as well as correspondence from consumers received directly by the commissioner or referred by legislators and the governor. The Office issues press releases and newsletters and responds to all questions from the media. To help alert the public on banking and insurance matters, the Office makes available buyer's guides, informational pamphlets, complaint ratios, and results of premium comparison surveys on automobile and homeowners insurance (including tenants and condominium owners). - Route 1 South to Trenton. Exit at Perry Street. Turn left at traffic light (Facing Trenton Fire Headquarters). Follow Perry Street to the 4th traffic light. Turn left onto Warren Street. Look for parking garage on left.

From the SOUTH
- Route 295 North to Route 129 North. Route 129 North to Route 1 North. Exit at Perry Street (first exit). Turn left at stop sign (facing Trenton Times building). Follow Perry Street to fifth traffic light. Turn left onto Warren Street. Look for parking garage on left.
