Biography: Wayne H. Bryant
Chief Scientific and Technical Advisor for Wake Turbulence
Mr. Wayne H. Bryant has over 40 years of experience, mostly with NASA, conducting research on a broad range of aeronautics issues including wake turbulence, CNS-enabled air traffic concepts, navigation, guidance, and control systems, and fault-tolerant and highly reliable avionics systems. Immediately prior to joining the FAA in May 2007, he was Senior Technical Advisor for Wake Turbulence at NASA, and prior to that, Chief Scientist for NASA's Airportal Project.
Mr. Bryant was the technical and programmatic leader for the NASA Wake Vortex Avoidance System (WakeVAS) research working collaboratively with the FAA Wake Turbulence program manager. He is the co-founder of WakeNet USA (a government/industry network focused on implementing wake vortex solutions) and continues to build international collaboration with European counterparts for implementation of wake vortex systems through the FAA/NASA/EUROCONTROL Air Traffic Management Research and Development Committee and the European Commission sponsored thematic network, WakeNet2-Europe.
Mr. Bryant is the author (or co-author) of over 30 technical publications in the areas of wake vortex mitigation, navigation, guidance, control, and highly reliable computing systems.
