简介
两种研究策略可能可以降低健康的不均衡性:社区参与和地理信息系统的运用。地理信息系统方法,比如创建把发病率与社区环境相关联的疾病地图,与社区参与相结合后,能促进旨在降低健康不均衡性的行动。不过,目前的疾病地图绘制方法,往往把重点放在向政治或行政部门显示发病率上。这类地图没有提供有关当地癌症发病率的足够信息,无法使社区参与到应对不均衡性的工作中来。

方法
我们与研究人员和癌症预防及控制医护人员合作,用自适应空间滤镜技术创建地图,显示所有晚期确诊为结直肠癌病例的持续表层示意。我们还创建了显示结直肠癌发病率的地图。

结果
我们的地图显示了癌症的独特模式及其与社区环境的关系。这些地图已发布在网络上并通过爱荷华综合癌症控制联盟 (Iowa Consortium for Comprehensive Cancer Control) 伙伴的活动,供公众查阅。

结论
社区参与型研究方法正变得越来越普遍,地理编码资料的可用性以及用地理信息系统绘制疾病地图的方式也同样如此。如果研究人员和从业人员要让社区参与到探索癌症发病率的活动中来,地图的制作就应准确表示癌症的发病率,并置于相应的背景中,从而能为熟悉当地特征的人们所利用。
