FISH TECHNOLOGY CENTERS

In 1965, the Fish & Wildlife Service established seven Fish Technology Centers nationwide to provide science and technology support and guidance to the National Fish Hatchery System and fish culture community. Today, Fish Technology Centers continue to provide leadership in science and technology, especially for restoration and recovery of native species. With a focus on rapid turn-around, applied science, Fish Technology Centers assist fisheries biologists “in the field” with problem solving and new methods in areas such as genetics, nutrition & physiology, biostatistics, fish culture technology, and more.

Fish Technology Center Mission:

In support of the USFWS mission, Fish Technology Centers provide leadership in science-based management of trust aquatic resources through the development of new concepts, strategies, and techniques to solve problems in hatchery operations and aquatic resource conservation.
