Synaptic connections of retinal neurons

Retinal neurons reconstructed from confocal images

Synaptic responses and light responses can be recorded from different types of neurons in a retinal slice and their synaptic connectivity can be reconstructed after recordings. The image shows three major classes of excitatory neurons reconstructed from a ground squirrel retinal slice.
