Mentored Research Scientist Development Award (K01)

The Mentored Research Scientist Development Award (K01) provides support for three to five years of protected time for an intense and well defined research career development program under the guidance of a mentor with an established and well funded research program in the environmental health sciences. The award is not intended as either a continuation of the postdoctoral experience or a substitute for a postdoctoral experience, and the career development program must define either a career shift or structured career development program which cannot be attained without the protected support. Institutional support for the candidate is evaluated in the review, and the program is expected to prepare the candidate to apply for independent research funding by the fourth year of the award.
