Parkinson's Disease
Frequently Asked Questions
22. Can diet help with Parkinson's
disease?
Currently there are no vitamins, minerals, or other nutrients that
have any proven therapeutic value in Parkinson's disease. Some
early reports have suggested that dietary supplements might protect
against the disease. Studies are underway to find out if dietary
factors can help slow the progression of the disease, or even
prevent or treat it. A healthy diet can promote overall well-being
for people with Parkinson's just as it would for anyone else. A
high protein meal can temporarily reduce the movement of levodopa
into the brain.
