Saguaro National Park to Begin Spraying Buffelgrass

RECENT NEWS:

Comprehensive Trails Plan

During the summer of 2007,  the park held several public meetings to introduce trail alternatives that had been developed for both park districts (Rincon Mountain District and Tucson Mountain District). The public was encouraged to review the alternatives and provide comments by July 28, 2007. During this time many constructive comments were received. In late February/early March of 2008, a newsletter was mailed to the park’s trails planning mailing list. The newsletter summarized the comments received last summer, responded to rumors you may have heard, and discussed parking lots options, particularly for trailheads. Another opportunity for comment was provided. The newsletter, all alternative maps and supporting information, and the parking lot options are available for viewing at http://parkplanning.nps.gov/sagu.

The park has revied all comments received and is currently developing preferred alternatives for both districts. We hope to release these preferred alternatives for public review and comment this fall.
