WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Federal, state, local and voluntary agencies are working in partnership to help Kansas residents following the severe storms and floods that occurred between October 30 and November 15, 1998. The following is a summary of assistance provided as of the Disaster Field Office closing on January 15, 1999.

More than 2,388 victims of the recent severe storms and floods have registered for assistance through FEMA's toll-free registration line.

The U.S. Small Business Administration has approved $11,676,800 in disaster loans.

To date, $3,380,199 was paid in grants for temporary housing needs, including minor home repairs.

To date, 2,459,248 in grants for disaster-related necessary expenses have been awarded through the Individual and Family Grant Program.

There have been 175 Notices of Interest filed by governments and eligible non-profit organizations with $1,196,242 obligated under the Public Assistance Program.
