"The Führer Thanks You For Normandie.... Now Full Speed Ahead on the Next Job," April 1942
This This cartoon refers to the destruction of the former French passenger liner Normandie in February 1942. The ship had been seized by the U.S. government for conversion into an Allied troop ship. It accidentally caught fire, widely believed to have been an act of German sabotage. Under Goebbels' feet lies the outstretched body of a Jew, a common iconographic motif in Szyk's wartime work.
