The TECNOMOUSE, a hollow fiber "in vitro" system, has been used successfully for years for the production of monoclonal antibodies and for the expression of cell products. In this system, separation of cultivation and nutrient/oxygenation chambers is via hollow fibers in combination with membranes through which gases may diffuse. Optimal media utilization, direct oxygenation and yields of up to 500 mg of monoclonal antibody per month are possible. In the same unit up to five different cell lines can be cultivated at the same time. TECNOMOUSE truly is an alternative to the production Mab in mice.

CELLine, a compartementalized cell culture system based on membrane technology, is another product in INTEGRA's line of alternative cell cultivation products that has just been released. This system can cultivate up to 108mg of Mab per month. The membrane technology greatly reduces the serum consumption and especially the time spent for purfication. The CELLine is available in three different sizes, is disposable, efficient and cost effective. A recently published article in the Scientist magazine describes the advantages of this system.
