WASHINGTON (October 14, 2008) — The FBI’s Office of Information
Technology Program Management (OIPM) reached another milestone earlier this
year with the completion of the Secure Voice Switch Network (SVSN) project.
Sponsored by the FBI’s Counterterrorism Division Strategic Information
and Operations Center, the SVSN project was an effort to create a system
that would allow for better communication FBI-wide, as well as help prevent,
disrupt, and defeat terrorist operations.
The SVSN provides FBI executives with a secure voice command and control
system that can be used for routine and crisis management of FBI resources.
It also offers secure voice conference call capabilities across the entire
FBI over government-controlled circuits. With the deployment of this capability,
the FBI now has a secure voice network that is compatible with the Department
of Defense.
The SVSN also improves the FBI’s ability to quickly disseminate sensitive
threat-related information to local, state, federal agencies and to its law
enforcement partners.
The OIPM takes pride in its contributions to bridging the gap in intelligence
communication. “Our challenge and number one goal is the successful
delivery of projects. This is certainly another indication of our commitment
to meeting this challenge,” said Jeremy Wiltz, section chief for the
IT Program Management Section.
