The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Center of Expertise Preservation of Historic Buildings and Structures (CX) is housed in the Corps' Seattle District. The CX assists military installations and other federal agencies that are responsible for maintaining historic properties. The CX applies academic and practical skills in the fields of history and architectural history, architecture, and maintenance and rehabilitation treatments. The CX also serves as an information clearinghouse, and can provide technical direction to those seeking the best means of preserving and maintaining historic properties.
