BACKGROUND

Rep. Wu was sworn in on Jan. 6, 1999, becoming the first Chinese American member of the U.S. House of Representatives. He represents the "Silicon Forest" area from Portland to the Oregon coast and serves as Vice Chairman of the Congressional Asian Pacific Caucus.

Rep. Wu serves on the Education and Workforce subcommittees on Early Childhood, Youth, and Families and on Employer-Employee Relations. He also serves on the Science subcommittee on Technology and on Space and Aeronautics.
