WHAT: Change in opening date for the exhibition "Women Come to the Front:Journalists, Photographers and Broadcasters During World War II"

WHEN: Now scheduled to open on Sept. 28; previously announced opening date was Aug.10

WHERE: Madison Gallery, first floor of the Madison Building, 101 Independence Ave. S.E.

WHAT: The exhibition highlights the careers of eight journalists -- Thérèse Bonney, Janet Flanner, Toni Frissell, Clare Boothe Luce, Mary Marvin Breckinridge, Elizabeth May Craig, Esther Bubley, and Dorothea Lange -- whose personal collections are held by the Library of Congress.

"Women Come to the Front" is an exhibition that explores the battles fought by female journalists as they tried to contribute their "brains and talent" to recording one of the world's most devastating wars. It sets the achievements of these eight war correspondents in the broader context of the history of women in American journalism. The exhibition also commemorates the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II and the 75th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, which gave American women the right to vote.
