Manual Requirement:
Ensure that potable water tanks do not share a common wall with the hull of the vessel or with tanks containing non-potable water or other liquids.
Request:
Variance to have a potable water tank(s) share a wall with the hull of the vessel based on the use of salinity sensors, alarms, and a monitoring plan. Tanks 13, 14, 15, 24, 36, and 37 share a wall with the hull.

Summary:
The ship has installed salinity monitoring equipment and put operational procedures into place that will quickly detect a breech that allows sea water to enter the potable water tanks and ensure the isolation, repair, and disinfection of the affected tanks before placing them back into service.
