The DEP in partnership with the Hudson County Regional Health Commission and the Hudson County Improvement Authority, conducted inspections as part of a recycling and photoprocessing enforcement initiative in Hudson County from June 6th through June 17th, 2005. The DEP conducted the sweep to ensure that photo processors are properly managing the waste generated during the photograph-developing process, and at the same time confirm that the entities of Hudson County have been disposing of their recyclable materials properly.

As part of an initiative to reduce diesel engine fine particulate emissions, inspectors from the Air  Compliance and Enforcement program commenced a two-week investigation to enforce anti-idling regulations found at N.J.A.C. 7:27-14.3(a), Control and Prohibition of Air Pollution from Diesel-Powered Motor Vehicles.  In April, 2004 DEP and DHSS inspectors knocked on the doors of Ocean County doctors; dentists; veterinarians; hospitals; healthcare facilities; nursing, assisted living and convalescent homes; medical analytical laboratories; outpatient surgical clinics; biomedical research facilities; funeral homes; schools; and body piercing and tattoo parlors to determine if they are in compliance with the Regulated Medical Waste generator requirements. |

The new Waterway Enforcement Team patrols the waterways of Ne  w Jersey looking for water, waste, land use, waterfront development, and air violations.This multi-disciplinary approach to environmental enforcement involves many media programs in DEP, regional Riverkeeper organizations and State Marine Police. |

 To help ensure inner-city residents equal protection under environmental laws, the DEP launched a two-phase compliance & enforcement effort in the city of Paterson, Passaic County. Over a two week time period in December, 2003, 123 inspectors from NJDEP, USEPA, Passaic County and the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission conducted 1400 inspections. Read more about it ...

The Pesticide Control Program worked with Senate sponsors, school officials, industry, and the NJ Environmental Federation to help develop the b ill signed into law by Governor McGreevey which requires the pest control strategy of IPM to be adopted and implemented in all schools in NJ. IPM requires many approaches to be used to effectively control pests, not solely relying on the routine use of pesticides |

 Responding to citizen concerns and reinforcing the commitment to provide equal protection to New Jersey's urban communities, the DEP conducted a weeklong environmental enforcement initiative in the city of Camden.

 The Atlantic County Recycling Sweep was conducted from November 28, 2005 through December 9, 2005. The sweep, which the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) led in partnership with the Atlantic County Utilities Authority, the Atlantic County and Atlantic City Health Departments and numerous municipal recycling coordinators, assessed compliance with the state’s mandatory recycling requirements.
