Y. Peng Loh, Ph.D., Senior Investigator

Dr. Loh received her B.S. degree in Biochemistry from University College, Dublin, Ireland, in 1969. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1973, where she worked on circadian rhythms and neuropeptide biosyntheis in Aplysia neurons with Sol Erulkar and Price Peterson. Dr. Loh did postdoctoral work with Harold Gainer at the NIH, where she studied proneuropeptide processing in the pituitary. She is currently chief of the Section on Cellular Neurobiology within the Laboratory of Developmental Neurobiology, NICHD. Dr. Loh received the US Public Health Service Superior Service Award in 1989, Women in Endocrinology Mentor's Award in 1998 and the FASEB Excellence in Science Award in 2000. Dr. Loh's laboratory is studying the cell biology of neuroendocrine cells, with specific focus on neuropeptide biosynthesis, neuronal protein trafficking and the mechanism of dense-core granule and synaptic vesicle biogenesis.
