Occupational asthma has been reported in workers exposed to anhydrides, isocyanates (TDI, MDI, HDI, IPDI, hydrogenated MDI), triglycidyl isocyanurate (TGIC) and aliphatic and cycloaliphatic amines (N,N-Dimethyl-1,3-propanediamine, ethylenediamine, triethylene tetramine, dimethylethanolamine, isophorone diamine, hexamethylenetetramine). [Malo] Hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP) may be caused by isocyanates and trimellitic anhydride. For isocyanate HP, the antigens are the isocyanate chemicals, e.g., TDI, MDI or HDI; the exposure occurs during the production or use of polyurethane paints, resins, or foams; [Harber, p. 202] |
