Secretary of the Navy John H. Dalton and Captain Gregory A.
Bryant (USMC) will be featured guests at the Federal Conference
on Strengthening the Role of Fathers in Families May 3 at the
National Institutes of Health Natcher Conference Center,
Bethesda, Md.
Vice President Al Gore will deliver the keynote address and
lead a group discussion with Secretary Dalton, Capt. Bryant, and
senior officials and representative fathers from the Departments
of Health and Human Services, Education (HHS), Transportation,
and Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
The conference is one of the results of a June 1995
memorandum issued by President Clinton to the heads of all
federal departments and agencies asking that they help him find
flexible, responsible ways to support men in their role as
fathers. The conference is hosted by the National Performance
Review and will highlight approaches developed in various
departments and agencies. In addition to Secretary Dalton, HHS
Secretary Donna Shalala, Transportation Secretary Frederico Pena
and HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros are also expected to attend.
