- National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass or "Interagency"
Pass Program provides a suite of annual and lifetime passes to U.S.
citizens and visitors. Between 80% and 100% of the Pass program's
proceeds are used to improve and enhance visitor recreation services.

Boundary Waters Canoe
Area Wilderness Permits
Permits are required
year-round for all day and overnight visits to the Boundary Waters
Canoe Area Wilderness. Different types of permits and related
fees may apply, depending on the date, point of entry, mode of travel,
and nature of your group. From May 1 through September 30
there is a quota on the number of permits issued for each entry
point. Reservations are available for permits during the "quota

Permits
Permits
for collecting firewood, seasonal greens, and special forest products
are issued through Forest offices. Some restrictions apply
to these permits including areas on the Forest that may be closed
to certain activities. Special use permits are required prior to
commercial activities on national forest land and for activities
such as road access to non-federal lands. For more information,
contact the Forest office nearest the location you are interested
in.
