Becoming an Associate Certified Entomologist (ACE)
Step 5: Taking the examination
Once approved to take the ACE online examination, you can
use the link below to take the test. If you have not yet been approved to take
the examination, please contact bce@entsoc.org
to inquire about the status of your application. The details of the online
examination are below.
1. The exam is completely electronic and is
"closed-book". No use of outside materials is permitted (e.g., notes,
reference books, calculators, etc.).
2. The exam is administered through a proctor who should
remain in the room during the course of the examination.
3. The test must be taken in one sitting.
4. If you hit "submit", your test will be sent
as-is and any unanswered questions will be scored as incorrect. Please review
your answers carefully before hitting “submit”.
5. Your username (also called Student ID) and password for
this examination will be supplied to your proctor by the Certification
Coordinator. If you do not have a username and password yet, please contact
bce@entsoc.org or phone 410-263-3622.
6. To begin your exam, use a Web browser to access http://www.evtestcenter.com. Recommended Web
browsers include Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator (versions
4.0 or greater).
7. Enter "ENTSOC" for the instructor ID and click the
OK button.
8. Select the appropriate test from the list of available items
(this will be supplied to the proctor by the Certification Coordinator).
9. Enter the student ID and password that were supplied to
you by the Certification Coordinator (see above). Click the OK button to begin
the test. There are approximately 150 questions to be completed in 3 hours' time.
10. Your exam is automatically scored and is then reviewed
by Dr. Shripat Kamble, BCE (Chair of the BCE Examining Committee) or Mr. Mr.
Forrest St. Aubin, BCE-Retired. One of them will will
review your score and communicate your results to you and the Certification
Coordinator simultaneously.
If you have technical problems during the test, you can send
an email to bce@entsoc.org or to
aowens@entsoc.org (as an emergency backup) and ask
for assistance, though it is possible that no immediate assistance might be
available to you. Thus, it might be best to take the exam weekdays between the
hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm EST when assistance is most likely to be available.
