ESA Students Page

Welcome to the ESA Students page, a series of links to help our student members get the most out of our site. Please bookmark us and check back frequently as our information is updated as new items are posted to our site.

Student Awards, Scholarships and Fellowships
Each year ESA and the Entomological Foundation present awards and scholarships to students. Descriptions and eligibility requirements can be found on our Student Awards Page. The deadline for nominations is July 1, 2008. Awards will be presented at the Annual Meeting.

Student Activities at the Annual Meeting
This year's Annual Meeting will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana from December 13-16, 2009. Click here for information on student debates, competitions, social functions and other activities.

$30,000 in award funding is available for Students and Young Professionals who have participated in the affairs of their Society and who attended the ESA Annual Meeting in Reno, Nevada. For more information, click here. The deadline to apply is January 5, 2009. Click here for the online submission form.

Student Competition for the President's Prize
This event, held each year at the Annual Meeting, features a Poster Display Competition and a 10-Minute Oral Presentation Competition. Winners receive $70.00 and free ESA membership for a year.

Committee on Student Affairs
This committee stimulates interest in student participation in ESA activities, advises the Governing Board on matters of interest to student members, and organizes programs to serve student interests at the annual meeting. It consists of two student members from each Branch.

Volunteers and Committee Opportunities
Each year there are opportunities to volunteer at the ESA Annual Meeting and at the Branch Meetings, and most of ESA's standing committees have student liaisons. If you would like to volunteer or serve on a committee, contact your Branch representative on the Student Affairs Committee. For a list of current opportunities with your Branch, click here.

The BCE Intern Program
For those who hold do not meet the full requirements for entry into the Board Certified Entomologist (BCE) program, but who still wish to begin the process of becoming certified, BCE Intern status is a good option.

Employment Opportunities
Each month ESA features employment opportunities in the ESA Newsletter and on our web site.

Linnaean Games
The ESA Linnaean games are a lively question-and-answer, college bowl-style competition on entomological facts played between university-sponsored student teams. Each Branch sends its top two teams to compete at our Annual Meeting.

College and University Entomology Programs
Here you will find a list of North American colleges and universities that offer entomology or entomology-related degrees, plus universities which allow you to minor in entomology or take entomology courses online.
