African Water Facility (AWF)

 

 

The AWF is an initiative led by the African Ministers' Council on Water (AMCOW) to mobilize financial resources for water sector development in Africa. Created in 2004, the AWF is hosted and managed by the African Development Bank (AfDB). Its mandate is to improve the enabling environment and strengthen water resources management so as to attract the massive and appropriate investments necessary to achieve the national and regional objectives

Comision Nacional del Agua, Mexico

The Comisión Nacional del Agua (CNA) serves as an administrative unit of the Environment and Natural Resources Secretariat (SEMARNAT) in Mexico. Its main objective is the administration and preservation of the Mexican national waters, while encouraging participation by the society in order to achieve the sustainable use of this natural resource. The CNA is the governmental body that will host the 4th World Water Forum, which will take place in Mexico City from March 16th to 22nd.

In 2000, the World Water Council and the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco created a joint award. The King Hassan II Great World Water Prize, presented every three years at the World Water Forum, rewards the lifetime contribution of an induvidual or the significant contribution of an organization in the domain of water.

 

IWA Publishing - Water Policy Journal

IWA Publishing is the publisher of the Water Policy Journal, the official journal of the World Water Council. The Water Policy Journal publishes analyses, reviews and debates on all policy aspects of water resources.

The United Nations
In September 2005, the World Water Council was granted Special Consultative status by the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. This special status gives the Council the opportunity to designate official representatives to the United Nations Headquarters in New York and their offices in Geneva and Vienna. In addition, the Council may attend UN-sponsored meetings, conferences and activities of special interest to NGO's and may actively contribute to the UN's reflection on important issues in this domain.

Water-L - published by the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD)

WATER-L is a mailing list for news and announcements related to the World Water Forum and water policy issues. Postings include water policy news, announcements of workshops/conferences, job listings, and information on new publications and online resources. Water-L was created in 2003 by the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), in collaboration with the World Water Council and the Secretariat of the 3rd World Water Forum.
